The 2009 HERITAGE CENTER SEASON
June 16 to September 26
Tuesday through Saturday - 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM
The Board of Directors of the Bayfield Heritage Association has announced a Capital Campaign entitled:
"Heritage Vision 2010"
The Goals of “Heritage Vision 2010” are to:
- Retire the Construction loan residual of $200,000
- Increase the Endowment fund by $150,000
- Complete the construction/renovation and furnishing of the lower level Research Facility and Archive/Collections storage areas estimated at $100,000
A message from the president of the Bayfield Heritage Association:
We welcome your interest in the history and heritage of the Bayfield area and hope you will participate in our Capital Campaign in support of Heritage Vision 2010 so that we can realize the goals shown above by the year 2010 through donations and pledges made this year.
The past two years have been a very busy time for our Association culminating in two new exhibits, the Ray Cahill Barbershop and the John Black/Bessie Nourse Art Retrospective. Our Heritage Vision 2010 Capital Campaign emphasizes retiring the construction loan so we can expand educational programming and research activities. Through an AIACF grant and special appeal we have hired an archivist who began a multiyear project to catalog our collections and archives.
Currently, our annual budget is approximately $40,000 with our income derived mainly from a September Fundraiser, membership dues, smaller activities throughout the year and donations from friends. The greatest portion of this income goes to service our construction loan of $200,000, leaving precious little for much needed programming, exhibits, archival work, and hopes for a paid permanent staff position. . With your help we can remove this debt by the year 2010. We hope you share our vision for the future and will help us to realize our goals.
We have demonstrated our ability and resolve to set simple but achievable goals. We have been frugal and yet visionary. We have created wonderful exhibits, a beautiful Fountain Garden park and instituted a compelling program series while striving to record all our archives, images and artifacts.
Now we must move beyond these primary, critical steps if we are going to become the museum, education and research center our community needs and deserves. Please join us with your much needed financial support. Jerry Phillips, BHA President
